Alternator, Starter & Car Battery Replacement Services
Alternators
Your alternator powers essential systems while your engine is running. If your lights dim or your battery drains unexpectedly, it may be time for alternator repair or replacement. Our expert team will test your alternator and get you back on the road safely.
Batteries
Your car battery powers everything from the ignition to headlights. If you're jump-starting regularly or seeing a dashboard warning light, it's time to consider a car battery replacement. Our team offers fast battery testing, replacement, charging, and recycling services in Phoenix. Not sure how often to replace a car battery? Most drivers should check their battery after 3 years and consider replacing by year 5-especially in extreme climates or with frequent short trips.
Starters
The starter gets your engine going. Clicking sounds or a failure to start can signal a faulty starter motor. We'll diagnose starter issues and repair or replace the component as needed to ensure reliable starts every time.
Car Starting FAQs
What sound does a bad starter make?
A failing starter often clicks when you turn the key-but it might also produce a grinding or whirring sound, or no sound at all. If your engine won't turn over, schedule a diagnostic with Sundance Auto Service & Machine to determine if starter replacement is needed.
How do I unlock the steering wheel if it's stuck?
Apply pressure to the brake and turn the steering wheel slightly while turning the ignition key. This typically releases tension in the steering column and unlocks the wheel. If it doesn't work or the battery is dead, contact a professional to avoid damaging the ignition system.
Battery FAQs
What should I avoid when replacing a car battery?
When replacing a car battery, avoid letting tools bridge the terminals-it can cause sparks or electrical shorts. Make sure the battery is properly secured before connecting cables. Unsure how to replace a car battery safely? Our team is here to help with expert, affordable installation services.
What's the most common mistake when jumping a car?
The #1 mistake is connecting the jumper cables incorrectly-reversing the positive (red) and negative (black) leads can cause serious damage to your alternator or battery. Always double-check your connections and avoid using damaged or low-quality cables. If you're unsure, it's safest to let Sundance Auto Service & Machine handle the jump-start for you.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Always do great work with our motors in there machine shop
I ran out of gas right at the corner across the street from this shop, and the man working at Sundance was so kind, he located a gas can, filled it, asked me to please return it on my way back from getting gas, all without any question, in 110° heat, he saved me from having to walk and risk getting towed from where my truck was still in the street. A company run by empathic humans is the best in any business. These guys rock!
"WAS" a happy customer with Peoria Ford's service dept. I've used Peoria Ford for years and always took my 2011 Ford Fusion to them for all service needs. Well... my last service was terrible. (See Google Review) After a disaster with Peoria Ford's repair shop, I took my 2011 Ford Fusion SEL to this recommended Auto Repair Shop "Sundance Auto Service & Machine Shop". The shop may not look as snazzy as Peoria Ford's, but the mechanics know their stuff. John quickly and correctly diagnosed the problem within a few hours and gave me a great price to do all the work. Apparently the "Vehicle Control Arms" needed replacement as the bushings were totally worn out. A dangerous situation if not repaired. Something the Peoria Ford service department should have noticed and informed me of. But no. Not one peep about control arms from Peoria Ford. After I gave John the go ahead, Sundance not only repaired the car perfectly, but it also only took them one day to do everything. Dropped the car off that morning and picked it up the next day before noon. And I believe the price would have been nowhere near what Peoria Ford would have charged and probably still not fix the problem. Thank you, John, at Sundance Auto Service & Machine Shop for the great repair job.
Excellent
